Bentonite Clay is an excellent material for recreating mud. It’s frequently used for mud baths and mud-wrestling.
Effects operators and prop masters like to apply it as “mud” on cars. They spray the vehicles with water then apply the bentonite with a dust gun. The approach produces very realistic mud splashes and layers of grime with a high degree of creative control.
